Saj is a Podiatrist and a state registered Chiropodist. Training takes 3 - 4 years and once qualified the practitioner is trained to treat all manner of conditions of the feet.
Podiatrists are also able to assess foot structure and posture and to use this in detailed gait (walking pattern) analysis to diagnose and then treat severe conditions. Patients who have a different leg length between the two sides, often as a result of previous surgery to the joints, are a good example of those in whom gait analysis may be of great value. The subsequent treatment is performed in a scientific and logical way, rather than by a hit and miss technique.
Common problems requiring treatment are:-
Calluses
Toe nail abnormalities
Infections (especially those related to diabetes)
Verrucas and warts
